UPDATE: Female Body Found in Wooded Area

The body has been identified as Sherie A. Hughes of Wesleyan Avenue.

The released on Thursday afternoon that the female has been positively identified as Sherie A. Hughes, 45, of 21 Wesleyan Avenue.

The cause of death is still under investigation.

On April 4 at 11:45 a.m., Coventry Police responded to a wooded area east of Sheltra Avenue in Coventry, to investigate a report of a deceased female that was found by passers-by.  

Coventry detectives contacted the Medical Examiner who responded and took custody of the body. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. A preliminary investigation did not reveal any obvious signs of trauma.

The female has been positively identified, however, her identity is being withheld until the next of kin have been notified. The name of the deceased is said to be released on Thursday. 

The matter remains under investigation.
