Coventry Resident Arrested on Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver

The offender is a Providence school teacher.

On Friday, Nov. 4 at approximately 4:30 p.m., detectives, K9, and patrol officers, along with West Warwick and Warwick detectives, executed a search warrant at 23 Jade Rd. after a two month long investigation.  

Over 24 grams of cocaine were seized, along with over $1,000 in cash and suspected narcotics packaging material.

The resident and homeowner, Bruce Smith, 40, was arrested and subsequently charged with Posession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver. He was held overnight at the Coventry Police station and arraigned before a bail commissioner on Saturday.

Smith was held without bail at the ACI until his appearance Monday morning at the Kent County Court House. Bail was set at $50,000 with surety.

Smith is a teacher and wrestling coach at Gilbert Stuart Middle School in Providence.
