Coventry is ranked right in the middle of a list of Rhode Island's most violent communities, according to analysis conducted by golocalprov.com. The study used 2012 crime statistics released by the FBI last week.
Out of 37 Rhode Island communities that report crime data to the FBI, Coventry came in at #20. Of the 25 violent crimes reported in Coventry for the year, there was one murder, five forcible rapes, one robbery and 18 aggravated assaults.
Nationally, the number of violent crimes increased 0.7 percent over the previous year, according to the data.
