Coventry Fire District 2012 Annual Meeting Agenda Agenda: Dec. 11, 2012

At the upcoming Coventry Fire District Annual Meeting, to be held at Club Jogues (184 Boston St.) at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, taxpayers of the district will be presented with reports from the Board of Directors, Chief, Tax Collector and Treasurer. They will also be presented with and given the opportunity to vote on the 2012-2013 budget and tax rate, as well as the election of Board of Directors.

Chief Paul Labbadia will present a detailed budget that will show specifics of each line item (shown in attached document) for both personnel and operations.  

The proposed figures show a Personnel budget of $1,918,615 and an Operations budget of $618,205, totaling $2,536,820.

"We are continuing to hold the line and will not propose any tax increase for this year." he said.

Labbadia explained that the fire district experienced an increase last year due to property revaluations but had not proposed one for four years prior to that. He also stated that records will show a deficit of around $300,000, but that the district has approximately $420,000 in back taxes that are in the process of being collected.

"We'll soon be only a year behind in tax collection, but other than that we're pretty much up to par and holding our own," he continued. "Right now we're staying above water and don't see any major increases for at least the next few years."
