Officials are scrambling to deal with the looming closure of the Central Coventry Fire District.

Last month, a judge ordered the liquidation of the fire district after it went bankrupt. The order mandates that the district close by May 16. That means 44 firefighters and four administrators will lose their jobs.

The Central Coventry Fire District is the largest of the town's four fire districts.

On Tuesday, officials held a meeting to determine how to move forward, according to WPRI-TV.

Ideas discussed included establishing a volunteer fire department, WPRI reported. Other options previously talked about include having the three other fire districts absorb the Central Coventry area.

What do you think you'll be paying after the liquidation? Please check your insurance policy for ambulance coverage. How may rides do you get? What is your co payment and deductable? What if you have no ambulance coverage? now add that amount to your bills. Do you know how much private ambulance service is? And what is the contract with them? How long does the contract last before the price goes up? I would have much rather taken the 100 a year increase in my tax bill thank you very much.

None of that was discussed the other night at thier meeting. Notice the 100000 budget line for dispatching also. really this is not the best laid plan.
