you two should really get a room....
John January 21, 2014 at 09:05 AM
Like the one your and tea-bagging lovers use?
John January 21, 2014 at 09:14 AM
Is that what you tea-baggers do hater?
Bill Overdeaux January 21, 2014 at 10:27 AM
Who says we don't share a room Hatter. Seeing how we all have screen names, are we not all brought here to this asylum to paste the insanity of the moment? Perhaps your padded cell is on the same block. Where does insanity end and reality begin in this town. Complaining about one Fire District with a tax rate of $2.50 / $1000 but not a peep about the rate next door. A fire Chief whose household gets 14-16% of his districts budget and he runs a postage stamp district. This chief, highest paid in town and one of the highest in RI. Again, not a peep. The Town Council President swearing in a new career police officer in his "biker" colors. Nothing said. This Town, is insane, so in reality we all share the room! To quote the only sane thing I've seen is, "One Town, One Department".
Reasonable Taxpayer January 21, 2014 at 11:11 AM
Bill, the problem at hand is the central coventry fire district.
William A Mott January 21, 2014 at 01:30 PM
When we stop hearing that it was a clerical mistake and the finger pointing stops on who was to fault this will go on! And who suffers the taxpayers cause we have to bail out somebody
mad hatter January 21, 2014 at 03:04 PM
bill, what do i care what HH does?? that is for them to fight, not me. as for our biker boy who clearly thinks that ripped jeans, boots, vest, and a rat tailed mohawk is "cool", we have leaned into him several times here. i look forward to the day when he is not pictured here swearing in officers but when he is pictured here in cuffs.
harleyrider8272 January 21, 2014 at 04:43 PM
Mott it was a clerical mistake, I know that right wing- nuts can't handle the truth because it would mean that they would have been made fools of by the likes of Asssalone, Morgan, Rattakis, Blais and johnny's trailer park tribe...tough pill to swallow
harleyrider8272 January 21, 2014 at 04:50 PM
And you don't care about HH Hater because he is your buddy I will guess that you two hang out. Plus you never complain about the towns taxes which are pretty much 10 times the fire tax...so strange!
Michele Martin January 21, 2014 at 08:23 PM
Rider (coward) the town tax pays for a lot more services than the fire district are you suggesting they should be the same? Honestly the reason CCFD is out of control is people like you. Take care of your problems before you attempt to solve others. Let's hear some constructive ideas on how to fix things instead of hiding from the real issues.
harleyrider8272 January 21, 2014 at 08:57 PM
Michele (Bitch) The only services I get from this town are Police, garbage pick up and schools and I don't have a kid in school ! The state does the rest!!! You must work for the town, that explains it!
Steve Fay January 22, 2014 at 04:27 PM
After reading all the comments, I would like to know how a town of 35,000 or so, (as a whole) can justify approximately $400,000 in Fire Chief expenditures. The figure is derived by the total cost of salary, benefit, vehicle, and equipment costs for COD's of the four districts. So perhaps Mad Hatter that is why you might care about the total cost of service in Coventry and not just HH. To me, the replication of all the costs in all these districts is asinine when coupled with politically influenced boards who have no idea what they are doing. It is time for Coventry to at least come to the 20th Century!
Harry Hood January 22, 2014 at 06:15 PM
Coventry.....4 fire departments......4 (rich salary)fire chiefs...biker vest guy.....the rest of RI is laughing at us.
Stephen b January 22, 2014 at 07:04 PM
Steve Fay that's a good question, I guess the answer can be seen in how much did CCFD save when they consolidated last time? Luckily for us the Town at this time can't afford it.
Michele Martin January 22, 2014 at 08:43 PM
Correct Stephen they got rid of 4 chiefs, 4 tax collectors, reduced equipment and still managed to spend more. Coward good thing you don't need the school services don't need little cowards running around.
Steve Fay January 22, 2014 at 09:25 PM
And thus the closed mindedness continues. Stephen b you can beat that drum from the west all you want. The fact remains there is no mutual aid in town it is all automatic. Thus you are getting paid professionals every time the other districts are out there pro-Bono. That is fair how?
harleyrider8272 January 22, 2014 at 11:55 PM
Michele did your power tools run out of batteries again? I know you can't have a man in your life. Steve don't argue with the western people, they're Dept. is starting to fall apart. Let everyone but western in on one dept. and bill them every time we go out there. They're response times are horrible anyway . Look at the latest headlines I don't think we want any part of western!
Toxic Avenger January 23, 2014 at 01:24 AM
Harleyrider8272 I am amused by your paranoid state of mind. You don't have a mowhawk and fill a position on the TC do you?
mad hatter January 23, 2014 at 07:37 AM
@Fay, you were hit with fact. costs exploded the last time we "tried" to save money by merging. what makes you think it would be any different this time?? what went wrong last time?
Reasonable Taxpayer January 23, 2014 at 10:20 AM
I'll tell you what went wrong, a lot of back room deals and promises had to be made to make it happen. All the districts are watching this and wondering who will be next.
harleyrider8272 January 23, 2014 at 11:58 AM
Look it's the three stooges again, They are here till they die!! Try the veal !!
Michele Martin January 23, 2014 at 12:43 PM
Coward. For once it would be nice to see you post something constructive.
Reasonable Taxpayer January 23, 2014 at 02:10 PM
UPDATE: Big union Money has arrived and is now being spent here in Coventy IAFF (International Association of Fire fighters) The National Union that represents the central Coventry fire fighters has started to purchase advertising in the Coventry area. It is advertising here on the patch and also in the Coventry Reminder (full page ad) last page section 2... Harley did they purchase any Super bowl ad time?
Steve Fay January 23, 2014 at 02:58 PM
Hatter shove your imagined facts! For starters didn't level funding come into play three years in a row? Was this a clerical error or deliberate sabotage? Did the previous Chief bolt? Is the former treasurer deceased (who by the way had proprietary software for the accounts that he controlled) ? Is there a State Police Investigation ongoing? All through this there was never a tax increase and while I'm po'd tell me how this affects morgan who spear headed this mess with her puppet show? Does she not live in West Warwick? Reasonable taxpayer you have a problem with the fact that these guys won't roll over after they offered concessions? Why should it be one way and tell us again how this is all the employees fault! It is ok for assalone to purchase media advertisement lie, distort facts, and belittle people all while residing in Snug Harbor. Wonderful! And tell me how $400,000 on 4 Chief Departments is economical! Here is a Start, One Chief for all 4 districts then a move to one municipal department. It is obvious that the huckabilly's have no idea how to negotiate or how things operate!
Reasonable Taxpayer January 23, 2014 at 03:18 PM
Morgan and assalone have nothing to do with the mismanagement of the central coventry fire district. That falls squarely on the former Chief Seltzer who nobody speaks of..lol and The former board....those were the "huckabilly's" they got out negotiated by the union attorneys who crafted those contracts....anyway those goose that has laid the golden egg has been declared dead....
mad hatter January 23, 2014 at 03:25 PM
@fay, level funding?? that is all you have? fine, go back before level funding and the cost of the district still was higher when we were suppose to see decreases from the merger. compare 2005 to 2009. what now?
John Brooks January 23, 2014 at 06:11 PM
Firemen become firemen because they fail the police exam.
harleyrider8272 January 23, 2014 at 10:36 PM
John brooks farm where the men are men and the sheep are scared!! Or if he gets reallllly desperate he grabs Michele Martin !! LOL
harleyrider8272 January 23, 2014 at 10:43 PM
Reasonable Taxpayer , I read your posts and you truly have no clue do you? John "leave my" Assalone was a huge part of this problem even before Morgan( red herring)phew got her claws in it!! You know that or your just stupid..which one??
