URGENT TAX INCREASE CCFD 7PM MEETING 10/7 & 10/10

URGENT TAX INCREASE CCFD Meetings 7PM  Monday 10/7 & Thursday 10/10 at the Town Hall Annex

Hi fellow taxpayers,

I went to the Central Coventry Fire Department tax increase meeting last night at 7PM and it was pretty disgusting.  We are so far in the RED, it is not even funny. Legally, the new board members cannot do anything to decrease our taxes or even keep them at what they are currently.  Why you ask, because “IT IS IN THE CONTRACT”.  I guess you know what that means…big and I mean humongous, tax increases are in the future for us taxpayers.  The whole problem is that the former chief & other officials signed the last CCFD union contract (WHICH ENDS MARCH 2015).  If you ask me, it is crazy.  Some of the contract was shown last night, for an informational guide only.

EVERY TAXPAYER should go to these meetings to make sure this does NOT happen again.

One interesting fact was that each firefighter person gets $1500 clothing allowance.  That may seem reasonable to you, thinking that it is for their uniforms and protective gear.  Wrong…..it is for jeans and regular clothing underneath their protective gear like you and I would wear.  If they do not need it, they keep the $1500 a year.  Why you ask, because “IT IS IN THE CONTRACT”.   A lot of firefighters were at the meeting and still complaining.  Who should be complaining?  Yes, YOU and I, the TAXPAYERS, who pay this.  They get more than the normal public would get in a regular job.  Yes, normal public is YOU.

Another interesting fact is that when you call for a rescue, you will get billed.  You would think your fire taxes covers this service, but it does not.  Billed you ask?  Yes, it automatically gets charged to your health insurance that they retrieve when they bring you to the hospital.  You have no healthcare coverage you say?  Well they just put a lien on your home so when you sell, you will have to pay it.  Sounds like our rights and freedom are being taking away!

They have closed stations, yet the same amount of firefighters are still running the remaining stations. We cannot have a lay off, like normal business would do when they are in a spiral downturn or going bankrupted. Why you ask, because “IT IS IN THE CONTRACT”.

We appreciate the firefighters but do not appreciate the high taxes that are in store for us.

Our state representative has put in a bill and made it impossible for us “the taxpayer,” to do what is right, as he was a former firefighter.  Please get out and vote, when he comes up for election again.  It doesn’t matter though, how you vote, because when he is gone out of office, he still gets free healthcare for life and his same paycheck.  Why you ask, because “IT IS IN THE GOVERNMENT CONTRACT”.  Who is the government you ask?  Well it is you and I.

Sincerely,

Joe Smo, CCFD taxpayer
