Question of the Day: Soda Limits?

Should Easton consider limiting the size of soda and sugar sweetened beverages in restaurants?

What some may consider another front in the war against obesity, others may consider another step too far for government.

The city of Cambridge is considering limiting the size of soda and sugar sweetened beverages sold at it's local restaurants. If passed, city restaurants wouldn't sell drinks larger than 16 ounces at any of it's restaurants.

So, what if this happened in Easton? Smaller beverages at Maguire's? No "large" options at the Wendy's on route 138?

Like Cambridge, should Easton consider limiting the size of soda and sugar sweetened beverages in restaurants?

I agree with Elaine. Easton does not need to become the "nanny-town."

@Marianne - this can all be traced right back to Harvard's BMI studies. Body Mass Index studies. Harvard = Cambridge, hence the mention of Cambridge in the article above. Fortunately, as there are other choices for beverages, there are other choices for colleges too!

Perhaps Harvard University and the folks in Cambridge, Massachusetts can read through this commentary: 1) http://voices.yahoo.com/the-relationship-between-internet-obesity-7091422.html. Get gov't out of our personal lives and daily choices! Some people drink til DRUNK but they aren't stopping that etc; but telling us how much soda to drink, food to eat, suggesting where to eat (not fast foods), not to smoke & taxing cigs & raising insurance rates on smokers but not on drunks, obese peope, drug users, etc. And get out of a bedrooms too; birth control etc. is a privacy issue. Gov't mind your business & do YOUR job better b4 telling US how to live daily! End of my rant. LOL
