Happy Second Birthday, Coventry Patch!

Two years ago today, we officially flipped the switch to launch the site.

On Dec. 20, 2010, after weeks of going door-to-door creating business listings for the directory, introducing myself to local officials, handing out business cards and trying to explain to people what Coventry Patch was all about, I ran through a final checklist with my boss and was then given the green light to officially launch the site.

Today, Dec. 20, 2012, I can honestly say that I cannot believe it's been two years already. As the saying goes, "Time flies when you're having fun."

It's been a busy year here in Coventry, considering all that has gone on in this town of ours. Whether it was covering the police and fire activity in town, reporting CHS' Julie Lima Boyle being named RI Teacher of the Year, explaining the school bond proposals, staying current during election season and reporting the Nov. 6 results, or keeping residents updated about CCFD's Special Mastership process, I have definitely been kept on my toes!

As we head into Year 3 of Coventry Patch and 2013, I am optimistic that I will continue to be given opportunities that I probably would not encounter in any other line of work, while meeting amazing people and learning new things about my hometown through my reporting.

On that note, I'd quickly like to thank each and every person who has logged into Coventry Patch, read the stories, contacted me with ideas and tips, sent in feedback, spread the word about us and contributed in any way to the site. Keep it up!

It is also important for me to express my gratitude to all of the public service, education and administration departments within the town, along with residents and employees for continuing to be so helpful. Thank you for another year of welcoming me in your homes, offices and lives. It really means a lot!

Coventry Patch is not just an informative website, but also a meeting place for you to share your concerns and opinions about the things that are important to you. Above everything else, it is your website.

I will wrap this up by saying thank you so much for helping me love my job and by wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

- Lauren
