I submitted the following request to Atty. General Kilmartin with information from the post on Sept. 9th by "Taxpayer" titled "100,000 Bike Ride by disabled Central Coventry Fireman" after verifying the information on that posting.

Re: Fraudulent disability claim
Dear Attorney General Kilmartin,
It is with great sadness that I ask you to investigate what in my opinion is an outrageous and fraudulent disability claim by a former Central Coventry Fire District fire fighter, Lt. Michael Stevens, who is now seeking permanent status of his disability claim.
I am saddened because it is on the eve of the infamous 9/11 tragedy, that not only involved a great loss of civilian life, but a very high percentage of emergency personnel who now are and always have been considered hero’s along with others who acted selflessly for others and without concern for their own well being.
Please see attached – the background of the situation. It is estimated that in the past year Mr. Stevens has collected tax payers’ support of over $100,000 including base wage, incentive allowance, longevity bonus, paid holidays, clothing allowance, medical benefits (including vision, life insurance and reimbursement for out of pocket medical expenses), and now he is going for a lifetime pension which the tax payers will also be paying for his children’s education!
At the same time that Mr. Stevens is claiming his disability, in this last year he has participated in a 160 mile biking marathon and has been on You tube or Facebook showing his broad jump abilities!!On another site, LinkedIn, he is currently advertising for his power wash business and his senior marketing and sales executive status at Umbie Health.
I would appreciate it if you office would look into this matter.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
John R. Assalone
