Ruth E. Wishnowsky, Insurance and Real Estate Agent, Dies at 85

Ruth, loving mother of two, passed away on August 31, 2013.

Ruth E. (Rowland) Wishnowsky, 85, of Coventry passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at West Shore Health Center. She was the wife of the late Harold Wischnowsky. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Thomas N. Rowland and Blanche F. (Titus) Rowland Dewey.

Ruth got her insurance license in 1949 and owned an insurance agency until 1970 when she brought her business to The Slocum Agency and worked as a Broker and a customer service representative. In 1978 she got her real estate license and practiced selling houses, selling insurance and working in the office at The Slocum Agency, Inc. At age 83 she continued to work and did so until she could not anymore. 

She was the beloved mother of Nancy J. White of Coventry and Robert H. Wischnowsky and his wife Karen of Coventry. Loving grandmother of Justin Price and Shannon, Jarid Price, Jonathan McHugh, Matthew Wischnowsky and his wife Laura and Andrew Wischnowsky, all of Coventry. Cherished great grandmother of Emma N. Wischnowsky and Jack E. Price. Caring sister of Norma R. Darcy and her husband James of Warwick and the late Philip T. Rowland. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends attended visitation on Wednesday, September 4, at Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home on Greenwich Avenue in Warwick. Her funeral and burial were private.
