Lasca Shippee, Former Coventry Teacher's Aide, Dies at 88

August 2, 1925 - November 4, 2013

Lasca Shippee, 88, of Francis Street, Coventry, RI, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2013 at Kent Hospital, in Warwick, RI. Born in North Kingstown, she was the wife of the late Gareld A. "Gig" Shippee, the former Police Chief of Coventry, RI and the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Spink) Gardiner. 

Lasca was a Teacher's Aide at the Coventry School Department for twenty-three years. She was a past Matron of the Eastern Star Ionia Chapter and a former member of the ADAH #15 Chapter. 

Lasca is survived by a son; Robert A. Shippee and his wife Merry, a daughter; Deborah A. Dierman and her husband Jerry, seven grandchildren; Lea, Ian, Paige, Abigayle, Allan, Brittney and Kanesse, four great grandchildren; Becky, Adam, Joey and Marie and a great great grandson; Jedidiah. 

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 7 from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Maple Root Cemetery in Coventry.
