Elsie V. Sambor, Loving Wife and Mother, Dies at 88

Elsie V. (Brooks) Sambor, 88, of Orchard Street, Coventry, died August 26, 2013 in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stanley H. Sambor whom she married September 03, 1950. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude (Artman) Brooks.

Elsie worked as an operator for the telephone company and later at a private answering service. She was a member of Slatersville Congregational Church and their Needles and Pins Club. She enjoyed baking and was an avid sports fan.

Elsie is survived by her son David H. Sambor of Lockport, NY; her brother, Norman Brooks of Oklahoma; her sister, Ruth Moss of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews, including Freddie Sambor of New York City, NY; and many special friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her son Michael L. Sambor; four brothers, Waldo, Percy, Kenneth and Harry and two sisters Violet and Dorothy.

Her funeral was held Friday, August 30, 2013 in the Holt Funeral Home on South Main Street in Woonsocket, followed by a burial in Union Cemetery in North Smithfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Slatersville Congregational Church, PO Box 808, Slatersville, RI 02876.
