How do you spell rip-off? I purchased a new Marlin rifle, nothing fancy, .22LR. I live in Foster, and I have some real problems with rabbits. I have had guns since age 10, extensive experience with heavier guns in the military (20 years, expert ratings in rifle and pistol). Back to the story. I was very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the person I dealt with (I think his name was Claude). I filled out the paperwork and waited the required 7 days. I went in this afternoon (Sunday, 2 February) to pick up the gun, along with some paper targets, a cleaning kit and soft case. I went to check out, and asked for "a couple of hundred rounds" of ammunition. The kid at the register went and got two boxes, saying that they were very short of .22LR, and he could only sell me 100 rounds. I said that was OK. The he asked me for my range qual and membership card. I said I had no idea what he was talking about, I wasn't a member. He then took back the ammunition, and informed me that I could buy 100 rounds if I bought a range membership and took the required class. So now, here I am with a new gun, and no ammunition to get it sighted in and used to the handling of the weapon. Again, how do you spell rip-off? Don't go here, it's a racket.
