Recycling Holiday Items Helps Town, Environment

Coventry DPW encourages residents to recycle Christmas trees, holiday wrappings and old cell phones.

The holidays are a time for giving, so why not give back to Mother Nature by going “green” during this post-holiday season?

Employees at Coventry's Department of Public Works would like town residents to recycle their Christmas trees, old cell phones and holiday wrapping paper.

Here are some simple ways to be “green” and help the environment this season:

Recycle your live Christmas tree

Residents may drop off their live Christmas trees at (1688 Flat River Rd.) Trees may also be left curbside to be picked up during normal trash removal runs in January. (No tinsel, plastic bags, ornaments, lights or stands.) Note: Trash and recycling pickup is delayed one day during the week of Dec. 23-27.

Recycle old cell phones, computers, TVs

Did you receive a new cell phone, TV or computer as a gift? Drop off the old one in the electronics box at DPW to be recycled safely.
