Is this overtime or call back for the firemen? Do they count as minimum manning ? Or do we have to backfill on overtime?
Patsy1956 December 17, 2013 at 04:00 PM
And the reasonable taxpayer has to ruin it. They don't get paid. This is on their own time. We hear the same comments every year on here.
Lauren Costa (Editor) December 17, 2013 at 04:13 PM
Thanks for answering, Patsy! Yes, as always, the firefighters who participate are volunteering their time.

Maybe reasonable taxpayer can offer some christmas cheer ( a monetary contribution To all the districts not just CCFD ) or just play the SCRUGE that stole christmas. Kind of sounds like a sour board member?

I remember giving my son a plate of "thank yous". He left the table hungry.

Hey Reasonable Taxpayer why don't you and Patty "Black Iced" watch Charlie Brown's Kwanza and brew up a big ol' pot of red herring tea. The color goes so well with the yule log. For the rest of the sane have a very enjoyable and safe holiday season. Please remember those who work jobs that are 24/7 be they military, health care, public safety or any other mandatory profession that ensures a fluid, safe and democratic society.

Starship Trooper December 20, 2013 at 11:46 AM
Reasonable taxpayer, If you were at the meeting, the only cost is the fuel. Small drop in the bucket to put smiles on the faces of children! If they need money for fuel, count me in !
Reasonable Taxpayer December 21, 2013 at 01:08 PM
I hope none of the fireman get hurt on this mission of selfless kindness for the children of Coventry. - I would hate to see anyone end up with a disability pension.

Reasonable the rest of the negative posters here, you make me ashamed to be a resident of Coventry. Has Morgan and her crowd made you so bitter against the firefighters that you are now ruining something good????? GET A LIFE. To the rest of you.....Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!!
Richard Bergeron December 21, 2013 at 04:33 PM
To those who are always negative, I pray for you. I want to thank all of the generous people in Coventry who have helped this holiday season. Some have given their time, money or gifts. Thanks for giving to the food bank, Christmas Is, Toys for Tots and adopting families. As always, the Elks provided breakfast with Santa, at no cost. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Reasonable taxpayer. U paint youself as a total loser with your comments. You dont deserve to live in coventry our drive your car throught it. If we dont already use part of our taxes to support you we probably will some day. Go back in your hole until the next article about the ccfd. Leave this to thankfull wishes to the kids.

We live in Sherwood valley and we have seen santa a few years in a row. Bake cookies for all the guys on the truck... So upset that it was a NO SHOW this year - had 4 disappointed children waiting for him,!!!!!!! Why didn't you come????? Why would you change and not come through!!!!
Reasonable Taxpayer December 22, 2013 at 10:06 AM
Breaking News (from my hole) Santa came through my neighborhood but just waved.....No Candy this year......we payed for the fuel...you would figure that the union could stop by BJ's and pick up a few bags of candy
kristen December 22, 2013 at 10:25 AM
here's a thought... why not have Santa go to the firehouse instead ?? and save money for fuel?? and save the rest of us the aggravation of hearing sirens for 2 hrs while he laps around the neighborhood thinking there is some catastrophic accident going on around the block??
Richard Collins Jr December 22, 2013 at 10:26 AM
Are you kidding me? No candy? What more would you like, can we cook you a 3 course meal? Do your laundry? Please what more can we do?! Unreal!!!
Richard Collins Jr December 22, 2013 at 10:27 AM
And I believe no Sherwood valley because that was the night of the fire, it happens.
kristen December 22, 2013 at 10:33 AM
then they can actually meet Santa, would just make more sense.. Santa rides a sled with deer not a piece of tax payer equipment that costs a bunch to operate. The town is to strapped to justify this expense with all the non payments of fire-tax and over all lack of funds, is it really justifiable that they continue doing this each year? also, if your kid is let down because santa didnt drive around the neighborhood than damn what a let down the rest of its life will be...
kim jutras December 22, 2013 at 10:40 AM
The fire was Friday not yesterday? We could hear the truck at Wood estates
