Coventry to Celebrate 24th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

Wednesday's tree lighting will feature caroling, snacks, crafts and a visit from Santa.

For 24 years, the Coventry Parks and Recreation Department has hosted a community Christmas tree lighting to ring in the season and this year is no exception.

Residents are invited to join the festivities Wednesday, Dec. 4, beginning at 5:45 p.m., just in time for a 6:00 visit from Santa Claus himself!

This will be the second year lighting the new tree on the Community Center's front lawn, which was moved there from an Indian Trail property last August to replace its withering predecessor after 22 years at the location.

Again this year, The Reminder will provide songbooks for guests to carol around the tree with members of the Pawtuxet Valley Community Chorus while counting down the minutes until the tree lighting.

After the tree is illuminated for the season, guests are invited inside the Community Center to enjoy cookies, juice, Christmas crafts and photos with Santa.
