Coventry Scouts, Venturers to Collect Food to Help the Hungry This Weekend

Coventry Scouts will deliver grocery bags for donations on Saturday, Oct. 26 and collect them Nov. 2.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the Scouts of Pack, Troop, and Crew 11 of Coventry will be collecting food to help the hungry residents in their community. All food collected will be brought to the Coventry Town Hall Annex where it will be packed for the Coventry Community Food Bank on Macarthur Boulevard.

Scouts will leave an empty grocery bag on each household front door throughout Coventry neighborhoods. Items to be donated should be bagged and placed on the doorstep on Saturday Nov. 2., when Scouts will be canvassing the neighborhood around 9 a.m. to collect bags. Donations will then be delivered to the Coventry Food Bank, which in 2012 spent approximately $15,000 on food products alone to support more than 500 Coventry residents in need each month.

Items needed include: canned meats/fish, fruit juice, soups, baby formula, Jello, pudding mix, pasta, sauces, canned fruit, canned vegetables, baby cereal, powdered milk, peanut butter, hot or cold cereal. No outdated, opened, or glass items, please.
