Coventry Resident Hosts Second Annual Block Party for Hasbro Children’s Hospital

RE/MAX agent and Coventry resident Mark DeCosta hosted a rock-and-roll-themed block party to raise money for Hasbro.

Mark DeCosta, a RE/MAX 1st Choice Real Estate Agent, recently hosted his second annual summer block party fundraising event at his home in Coventry to benefit Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The event raised $8,000, doubling the proceeds raised at the first annual event in 2012.

More than 200 community members and 43 volunteers comprised of DeCosta's friends, family and fellow RE/MAX 1st Choice associates attended the themed fundraiser. The Rockin’ Through the Ages event featured a raffle, dancing, food and beverages, a bake sale run by his 8-year-old daughter and her friends, and four rock-and-roll bands.

“We far exceeded our fundraising goals and expectations at this second annual event,” said DeCosta. “This year’s event was such a success thanks to our volunteers, live bands and hours of planning, that we have already started planning next year’s event, which will be held at a large venue and provide the ability to raise even more money for ready Hasbro Children’s Hospital.”

“We are proud of Mark and the impact this fundraiser has made for local children and their families,” said Dan Breault, Executive Vice President and Regional Director of RE/MAX of New England. “At RE/MAX, we are strong proponents of giving back to the community and are beyond thrilled to be supporting such a wonderful organization like Hasbro Children’s Hospital.”
