The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation recently conducted this year’s Eco-Depot on Sat., March 31 at the . The event provided residents an opportunity to dispose of hazardous household goods in a safe and convenient manner. This year’s event, much like last year’s, was a great success.
“I want to thank all those who participated and disposed of these hazardous goods safely and responsibly,” said Rep. Patricia Morgan. "We collected over 24,800 pounds of hazardous waste, including 65 pounds of mercury, which will no longer pose a threat to our environment!"
"Resource Recovery and their staff should be commended for their efforts," she went on to say. "They make it as easy and convenient as possible for us to rid our homes of these hazardous chemicals. Most people are able to do so in a matter of minutes, oftentimes without even getting out of the car!”
For those who have hazardous materials to dispose of, and were unable to attend the Eco-Depot, please visit http://www.rirrc.org/ecodepot for instructions as to how to do so.
