Landmark Sues Over CharterCare Sale

Landmark Medical Center reportedly wants to know why CharterCare turned down its offer to buy a pair of hospitals.

The owner of Landmark Medical Center has filed a lawsuit against CharterCare Health Partners.

CharterCare operates Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence and Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. Last year, it agreed to sell the health centers to California-based Prospect Medical Holdings.

The Providence Journal reported Prime Healthcare Services, which owns Landmark, made a bid that was $10 million higher than Prospect's offer.

Prime, also based in California, filed a lawsuit seeking more information as to why CharterCare decided to make a deal with Prospect instead.
