Coventry Artists Among Scituate Art Festival Vendors

Today is the first day of the Scituate Art Festival — here's the schedule of today's events.

It's a Columbus Day weekend tradition around these parts — the Scituate Art Festival — and this year is the 45th year for the three-day event that highlights local vendors from around Rhode Island, including four from Coventry.

Here are the details on the first day of the festival, Oct. 8:

Hours: The festival is scheduled to run today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission: Free.

Vendors And Other Info: Frantisek Strouhal and Michael Iacona are among the artists scheduled to be at the festival. J.P. Madison and Bob Robillard Sr. are among the listed vendors for the event. For a complete list, check out the Exhibitors web page. New to the festival? Here's some history, courtesy of the About the Festival page.

How To Get There: For those of us in Coventry, follow these easy directions to reach the Scituate Village Green:

Take Knotty Oak Road to Rte. 116 and travel for 7.8 miles. Your destination (554 W GREENVILLE RD., NORTH SCITUATE), will be on your left.

Where To Park: Most parking is along local roads, though many folks park in lots where the businesses are closed (the Bank of America branch on Sunday, for example).

Entertainment: The Nightlife Orchestra is scheduled to take the stage today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Open mike from 2 to 4 p.m. Subject to weather conditions.
