Strong Thunderstorms To Hit Area; Flash Flooding Possible

More strong thunderstorms are expected this afternoon.

More strong thunderstorms are expected this afternoon for Coventry and the rest of Kent County.

As of 2:01 p.m., the National Weather Service was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Hopkinton, traveling northeast at 40 mph. 

The storm is expected to hit Coventry, East Greenwich, Exeter, Foster, Hopkinton, North Kingstown, Richmond, Scituate, Warwick, West Greenwich and West Warwick, but will likely impact the majority of the state.


The storm is expected to bring wind gusts up to 40 mph, torrential rainfall and pooling in low-lying areas. For their own safety and that of others, residents are being advised to not drive through flooded areas.
