Services Scheduled for Crash Victim

Funeral services for Doug Auger have been scheduled for this Monday and Tuesday.

Services for a Coventry teenager who died in a car accident early Friday morning have been scheduled for August 20 and 21.

Eighteen-year-old Douglas Auger of Weaver Hill Road was a 2012 graduate of Coventry High School. Born in Warwick, he leaves behind parents John C. and Susan L. (Robinson) Auger and brother Bradley J. Auger. He was enrolled at the Community College of Rhode Island for the upcoming fall semester and had been working for Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management at Goddard State Park in Warwick.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 20 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 9 New London Avenue, West Warwick. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.

Auger passed away early Friday morning after succumbing to his injuries following a car accident on Fish Hill Road. According to police, Auger lost control of the car and went off the road, striking a tree about a half mile in from Harkney Hill Road.

Loved ones have created a memorial at the crash site and former classmates have been visiting since Friday. (If you plan to visit the site, please take the proper precautions as the road is narrow with very little room to walk or park on the side where the memorial can be found.)

I live on Fish Hill and very sorry that this happened, but I have to say...people drive way too fast on this road. Also, do not park on the side of the road! The parking lots for the soccer field is open, park there and walk! Since Friday I have had to go that way 7 times and it has not been good! Very narrow, people standing in the road (some that WONT move), cars parked on both sides leaving no room for cars and big trucks to get through.

My prayers will continue for the Auger Family as they go through this difficult time. Having both Brad and Doug as students was a blessing and a reminder that they have such wonderful caring parents. I will always remember that beautiful smile that Doug would have when called upon in class. The Auger family is part of the Lyons Family and will remaining my heart forever.
