Monday Essentials: Town Council Items, Medication Seminar Registration and More

Today is Monday, July 22, 2013 and here are five things to know about the week ahead.

Medication Seminar Registration: Today is the last day to register for the Outreach Committee of SS John & Paul Church's (341 South Main St.), SSJP Community Affairs Workshop on July 29. The Committee invites residents to bring their prescription and over-the-counter medications in a brown bag where a pharmacist will review the contents with each guest privately. A light supper, free of charge, will be served at 5:30 p.m., immediately followed by a presentation by a local pharmacist on the interaction of medications and why it is important of expiration dates. All are invited to attend. Registration is required by July 22 and can be done by calling 821-5764 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Town Council Agenda Items: The Coventry Town Council will meet this evening at 7 p.m. at Coventry Town Hall (1670 Flat River Rd.). Agenda items include various committee appointments, school safety/security project discussion, proposed ordinance hearings and more. Click here to view tonight's agenda.

Dog Park Fundraising Help: Lisa Finneran, President of the newly-formed Coventry Dog Park Association, is looking for volunteers to help raise donations to go towards building the highly-anticipated dog park behind the Town Hall Annex on Flat River Road. School Committee Topics: On Wednesday, July 24, the Coventry School Committee will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. at the School Dept. Administration Offices (1675 Flat River Rd.). Topics up for discussion include approval of the district's Homework Policy, 2013-2014 School Calendar revisions, evaluation results and more. Click here to view Wednesday's agenda.

Pasta Dinner Fundraiser THIS SATURDAY: Tickets are now available for the fundraising event, "Raising the Roof On Humanity", a pasta dinner organized by the wives and significant others of the Central Coventry firefighters, with the hopes of raising enough money to repair the leaking roof of the late CCFD Battalion Chief Bill Hall's house. The dinner will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the West Warwick Elks Club (60 Clyde St., West Warwick) and will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
