Memorial Day Parade Committee Seeks New Members

The Georgianna Hall Memorial Trust has begun organizing this year's parade and will hold the first Committee meeting this Saturday.

Last year, Ryan Hall and members of the Georgianna Hall Memorial Trust (GHMT) revived Coventry's Memorial Day Parade after several years went by without one. The 2012 parade proved successful and preparation for this year's parade has begun!

GHMT's Wil Cole has taken over as Parade Coordinator and has scheduled three organizational meetings in order to make the 2013 Coventry Memorial Day Parade an even bigger success than last year.

The first meeting will be held this Saturday, Apr. 6 at 10 a.m. at the Coventry VFW Hall (29 South Main St.). This meeting is aimed at anyone interested in joining the Memorial Day Parade Committee and will offer an opportunity to discuss and organize some behind-the-scene details.

The Committee's second meeting will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. at the same VFW hall and will serve mainly to inform all participating organizations of the parade agenda and any specifics that should be known. All organizations that wish to participate in the parade should send a representative to this meeting. Posters and flyers for advertisement purposes as well as raffle tickets for the parade fundraiser will also be distributed.

The third and final meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 (same time, same place) and will be for the finalizing of plans, last-minute preparations and the collection of raffle ticket proceeds.

If you are interested in joining the Committee but cannot make Saturday's meeting, or your organization would like to take part in the parade, be sure to contact Wil at whc3189@gmail.com or (401) 837-8439.
