Flood Watch Issued as Heavy Rains Pound Coventry

Another 1-2 inches of rain is expected in the area this afternoon.

A band of heavy rain expected to continue into this evening continues to impact much of Coventry, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory for all of Kent County.

The advisory — also issued for portions of Bristol, Providence, Newport and Washington counties, as well as areas of Southeastern Massachusetts — remains in effect until 3 p.m. Widespread street flooding is expected, so drivers are advised to take care on the roads. Flooding in areas near streams and ponds and along the coast is also likely.
