Today is Wednesday, Sept. 26. Here are five things you need to know:

 

Yom Kippur: There will be no school today in observance of the holiest day of the year in Jewish culture.

Free Blood Pressure Screening: Avoid health complications by keeping your blood pressure in check! Hope Library (374 North Road, Hope) offers free blood pressure screenings on Wednesdays from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Coventry Cares for Chris: Sign up today to participate in the Coventry Cares for Chris Fundraiser and Bike Run on Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. The run to benefit Coventry resident, 11-year-old Christopher Carlino who is battling Stage 4 Lymphoma for the second time will kick off from the General Country Store parking lot (10 Hope Furnace Rd., Scituate) and finish at the West Warwick Elks' Lodge (60 Clyde St., West Warwick). Cub Scout Sign Up: Boys in grades 1-5 are welcome to join check out what it is to be a Cub Scout and sign up if they'd like to tonight from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Coventry Senior Center (50 Wood St.) Join us for some FUN, make new friends and learn something new. Plan Ahead: On Thursday from 6-8 p.m., parents are invited to Coventry High School to attend a Prescription Drug Forum that will present information on the signs, symptoms and deadly results of teen drug use.
