Five Things You Need To Know Today, October 8

Today is Monday, Oct. 8. Here are five things you need to know:

 

Columbus Day: Coventry students have no school today, there will be no trash pickup and town offices will be closed in observance of Columbus Day, which is annually on the second Monday of October. The holiday remembers Christopher Columbus' arrival to the Americas on October 12, 1492.

CBA Legends: The Coventry Basketball Association is running an 18+ Co-ed basketball league, the CBA Legends. Signups and drafts will be held this evening at Olde Theater Diner from 8-10 p.m. E-mail simma@aol.com or call 385-9142 if you have questions.

Greene Homestead Tours: The historic 1770 homestead of Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene (50 Taft St., Coventry) is now open for tours. Today's visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5/adult, $3 child. Visit www.nathanelgreenehomestead.org for more info.
