Five Things You Need To Know Today, October 30

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 30. Here are five things you need to know:

 

Hurricane Closings: Coventry Public Schools, Town offices, Public Library, Parks & Recreation Department and Senior Center will be closed today due to the remnants of Hurricane Sandy. Click here for more town updates regarding the storm. Update - Oct. 30, 7:42 a.m.: According to Coventry Public Works, trash regularly picked up Monday-Wednesday will have a two-day delay. Trash regularly picked up Thursday-Friday will have a one-day delay.

Power Outages: National Grid reported at 7:30 p.m. on Monday that workers will continnue restoring power to affected areas as of this morning, once the worst part of the hurricane has passed.

Cal Ripken Registration: For those of you with internet access, Coventry Cal Ripken has announced that its online registration is now open. Instructional division is now offered at a reduced cost of $50 per playes, the cost for all other players is now $80. Discounts for families with multiple players are now $115 for two players and a family maximum of $130. Click here for more information or to register.

RhodeIslandese at CPL: On Nov. 1 at 7 p.m., Coventry Public Library will host Prof. Roberta Mudge Humble as she puts on an informal presentation of the Language of the Nation's Smallest State, a fun program that focuses on the unique way in which many Rhode Islanders speak.
