Five Things, July 9: CCFD Hearing, Farmers' Market and More
Today is Tuesday, July 9, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.
Free Computer Lessons: Have you been considering taking a course to get you up to speed with the basics in today's digital age? Now is the time to take advantage of Coventry Public Library's Free Computer Lessons for Beginniners! Lessons are offered in basic computer skills, searching the internet, making Excel spreadsheets, creating Word documents, and even navigating Facebook. Space is limited. For more information and to schedule a lesson, contact the library at 822-9100 or send an email to askreference@coventrylibrary.org.
Greene Farmers Market: Skip the grocery store tonight and pick up some fresh veggies, breads and pies at Greene Library's Farmers Market! From 4-7 p.m. each Tuesday through September, the Library (179 Hopkins Hollow Rd.) will host the community market that also offers plants, original craftwork and more. If you would like to become a vendor or need more details, call the call the library at 397-3873 or contact Gail at gail@coventrylibrary.org.
LVKC Conversation Class: Are you someone you know an adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) student? If so, register today for the Coventry Public Library and Literacy Volunteers of Kent County (LVKC)'s Group Conversation Class! The free small-group program is designed to help students maximize their English-speaking skills. Students will meet from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Coventry Town Hall Council Chambers for 1.5 hours a week for 10 weeks (July 11-Aug. 29). Food Bank Help for July: The spirit of independence is on full display this July as Independent Grocers in RI devote the entire month to collecting food for the RI Community Food Bank (which benefits the Coventry Community Food Bank). The Food Bank's most-needed items include tuna, canned and dried beans, brown rice, canned soups, peanut butter, breakfast cereals, whole wheat pasta and canned fruits/vegetables.
