'Pink Out' Breast Cancer Fundraiser Today at CHS (and 4 More Things)

    Pink Out at CHS: Today, Oct. 18, Coventry High School students will raise money for and awareness about breast cancer during the annual CHS Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Out Day fundraiser. Students from the Graphic Communications program designed and printed pink fundraiser t-shirts which will be sold during all lunches for $5 to support the cause.

    Toddler Stories and Songs in Greene: The Greene Public Library, located at 179 Hopkins Hollow Road, Greene, will host Toddlers, Tunes & Tales today and each Friday morning from 10-10:30 a.m. The program is intended for children ages 1-3 accompanied by a parent or caregiver and will feature songs, movement and a fun story.     Finance Director Application Deadline: Oct. 18 is the last day the Town of Coventry will be accepting applications for its vacant Finance Director/Treasurer position. Applicants should deliver their résumé to Town Manager Thomas Hoover at Coventry Town Hall (1670 Flat River Rd.). Click here for additional details.

    Greene Homestead Tours: Did you know that Spring 2013 marked the Nathanael Greene Homestead's 89th season as a museum? Take a tour at 50 Taft Street in Coventry to learn all about Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene who built and lived in the home, known as Spell Hall, from 1770 to 1776. Tours are given from Apr. 1 to Oct. 31 on Monday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children. 

    Next Weekend - 'Shocktober' at Paine House: Register today! At 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, members of the Western RI Historical Society invite the public to experience a Shocktober event with spirits of Paine! (Paine House Museum of course, located at 7 Station Street.) Special guests include Andrea Perron, author of House of Darkness House of Light; Chris Rodina, author of Vampires of New England and Ghosts Ships of New England. $20 admission fee includes ghost tours of Paine House and the Pine Grove Cemetery by RISEUP, local ghost stories, folklore and refreshments.
