Free Private Well Workshop Tonight (and 4 More Things)

    NECAP Testing: New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) testing will take place today through Thursday for students in grades 3-5. Parents are asked to make sure children get a good night's sleep beforehand and have a good breakfast each morning. Additional testing for these grades will take place Oct. 15-16.

    School Committee Meets: Tonight at 7 p.m., the Coventry School Committee will meet at the School Administration Offices (1675 Flat River Rd.). Items to be discussed include recognizing the CHS Boys' Volleyball Team, an SRP Trust Board appointment and more. Click here to view Tuesday's agenda. 

    Well Workshop: From 7-9 p.m. tonight, Oct. 8, the URI Cooperative Extension Water Quality Program and RI Dept. of Health will conduct a free workshop for private well owners at Western Coventry School (4588 Flat River Rd.). Call 401-874-4918 to register and click here for more information.

    Hungry for Change at NEFA: From 7-8:30 p.m. tonight and again on Oct. 15, New England Farm and Artist (NEFA), (1112 Main Street), is offering "Hungry for Change: Food, Ethics and Sustainability" - a discussion course developed by the Northwest Earth Institute (NWEI). Course books developed by NWEI are available at NEFA for $25, however public copies to share are also available at the shop.     Plan Ahead - 'Shocktober' at Paine House: Register today! At 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, members of theWestern RI Historical Society invite the public to experience a Shocktober event with spirits of Paine! (Paine House Museum of course, located at 7 Station Street.) Special guests include Andrea Perron, author of House of Darkness House of Light; Chris Rodina, author of Vampires of New England and Ghosts Ships of New England. $20 admission fee includes ghost tours of Paine House and the Pine Grove Cemetery by RISEUP, local ghost stories, folklore and refreshments.
