Tennis Lessons Start Today (and 4 More Things)

    P&R Tennis Lessons: Beginning this afternoon, the Coventry Parks & Recreation Department is offering tennis lessons with instructor Patrick LaSalle on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 24-Oct. 17 on the courts at Paine Field. There is still plenty of room left for grades 6–10 (3:15–4:15 p.m.)  and Adults 18+ (5:15–6:15 p.m). Cost is $25 for all eight classes. Registration is ongoing in the Parks & Recreation Office, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 822-9107 for more information. All skill levels welcome!

    PYO Berries: From 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday at Alpacas of Harkney Hill (1394 Harkney Hill Rd.), customers can "Pick Your Own" low and high-growing wild blueberries and huckleberries to purchase. Informational alpaca demonstrations are also offered at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes! For more information, call 397-4761.

    18+ Bingo: The Coventry Senior Center (50 Wood St.) will hold Bingo tonight and every Monday at 6 p.m., as well as every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. The cost is $4 plus Specials. All are welcome, but must be 18 years and older to play.

    Plan Ahead - John H. Urwin III Memorial Scholarship: Tickets are now available for the annual fundraiser to benefit the John H. Urwin Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year's prize will consist of five tickets to Gillette Stadium to see the New England Patriots take on the Cleveland Browns on December 8. Raffle tickets are $10 each and are on sale at Coventry Little League Concession stands at Wood Street and Paine Field, at Pagliarini's Family Restaurant (637 Washington St.), or by contacting Laurie at 826.1746. The drawing will take place on September 28, immediately following the organization's Pasta Dinner.
