'Coventry's Got Talent' Auditions Tonight (and 4 More Things)

    'Coventry's Got Talent!' Auditions: Tonight and Friday at 6 p.m., auditions will be held for the 2nd Annual "Coventry's Got Talent!" competition at Cornerstone Church (1081 Main St., next door to the Coventry Police Department). Semi-Final round of competition will take place Oct. 19- 20, Finals on Friday, Oct. 25. Potential contestants are asked to call (401) 459-6686 with their name, type of act and phone number to set up an audition time slot in advance. Click here for more information.

    Timebank Talk: Today from 3-4:15 p.m., Dr. Edgar Cahn, founder of Timebanks USA, will be stopping by New England Farm and Artist (1112 Main St.) to talk about the concept behind Timebanking and share some of his inspirational work. This is a free presentation, no registration required. Click here to learn more.

    Elks Fall Pitch Card League: The Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge (42 Nooseneck Hill Rd., West Greenwich) will host its Fall Pitch (Hi-Lo-Jack) Card League tonight and each Thursday at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 per person per week. All adults welcome. At the end of the season, prizes will be handed out at an Awards Dinner. For more information, call Denise at 226-5053.

    Tomorrow - CCFD Court Hearing: At 9:30 a.m. on Friday, a status hearing for the Central Coventry Fire District will be held at Kent County Superior Court (222 Quaker Ln., Warwick). In addition to the Court’s decisions on various pending matters on October 4, 2013, the Court will also hear a status report update from the Central Coventry Fire District Board of Directors. Click here for coverage of the Sept. 24 CCFD hearing.

    Plan Ahead - Scouting Golf Tourney: Parents of Troop 39 Summit are sponsoring a golf tournament to fund the Troop's camping activities and excursions. The event will be held Sunday, Oct. 6 at noon and is open to all golfers. Cost is $120 for 18 holes, lunch, dinner, cart and raffle items.
