Back to School Blood Drive at CHS (and 4 More Things)

CHS Blood Drive: Today, Aug. 30 and Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 7:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., the Rhode Island Blood Center will be collecting donations in the Coventry High School gymnasium. The Back to School Blood Drive is open to all students, staff, faculty and parents. Note: 16-year-old students must weigh a minimum of 130 pounds to donate and need a signed permission slip available at the front office of nurse's office. Students 17 and older must weight at least 110 pounds, but do not need parental permission. All students who donate will receive a "Get Out of Gym" card good for one class and a coupon for a healthy snack.

CPD Golf Tourney: The Coventry Police Department will hold its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Foster Country Club (67 Johnson Rd., Foster). Tournament will feature Shotgun Start and Scramble Format. Entry is $105/golfer of $400/team. Dinner is also available for non-golfers. Entry deadline is tomorrow, Aug. 31. For more info or to register, contact Detective Kevin Harris or Officer Rich Pendola at 826.1100.

Tent Revival Meeting: From 6-9 p.m. tonight, Saturday and Sunday, the Church of the Apostles (170 Fairview Ave., Coventry) is hosting a Tent Meeting entitled "Hope Is Our Anchor, Renewing Rhode Island with the Gospel of Christ". Feed a Furry Friend! Tomorrow, Aug. 31 is the last day to contribute to Centreville Bank's pet food drive to benefit the Meals on Wheels of RI Pet Food Delivery Program. Donations can be dropped off at your nearest Centreville Bank branch on or before this Saturday and will be used to help feed a senior's pet companion.

Pink Heals Food Drive: This Saturday, Aug. 31, members of Coventry's CERT team will be stationed at Dave's Marketplace in Shoppers Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to collect food and grocery gift certificates for RI Pink Heals, an organization that benefits cancer patients and their families. So if you have some Labor Day Weekend shopping to do, consider donating an item or two to a great cause!
