The Coventry Parks & Recreation Department will host a concert tonight as part of its 2011 Summer Concert Series.

Summer concerts begin at 6pm and are held at: Paine Field, Foster Park, Rice Field, or Briar Point Beach depending on the date.  Please see the list below for concert dates, times and locations.

Concerts at Paine Field:

July 10th:  Avenue A (4 piece swing, dixie, jazz)

July 17th: 5 Flavor Discount ( 5 piece rock, reggae, funk and disco)

July 24th: Billy Shears Band (Beatles music)

 

Concerts at Foster Park

July 31st: Wizdom (4 piece oldies)

August 7th: Black and White Band (3 piece blues/swing/jazz)

 

Concerts at Rice Field

August 14th: Vini Ames & Sh-Bop (6 piece 50s & 60s music)

August 21st: Jennifer Minuto (blues, folk /jazz and rock)


Concerts at Briar Point Beach

August 28th:  Nightlife (3 piece 60s – present)

September 4th: Billy Knight and Last Ride (country band)

In the event of rain, all concerts will be moved to the inside of the Community Center’s upstairs main hall, 1277 Main St (Rte 117)

Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chair as seating is not provided. Please note: no smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed at the concerts.

The Department of Parks and Recreation organizes recreation programs for all age groups, including the popular summer playground program for children, sports leagues and classes for various interests including the arts, yoga and aerobics.

The department provides maintenance for municipal parks and buildings, undertakes community construction projects including the popular Greenway.

The Coventry Parks and Recreation Department also manages the Community Recreation Community Center, which provides meeting space for dozens of non-profit and civic organizations. The Flat River Road facility includes baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a walking and bike bath, playgrounds and a skate park.
