Understandable, Danielle. However, this hateful blog is just the tip of the iceberg with the junkRead Moreth at has been posted on his "new Patch". ...

I'm with you. We don't like one blog dominating the whole platform, either. An entirely newRead Moreplatform is in the works that will do a much better job keeping local content front and center and solve a lot of the issues that came about when the site was redesigned last year. We're a new company now and in the process of making the business sustainable. You're not the only person that has raised these issues and we're taking them to heart. The new platform will do a better job presenting local news and info separately from national content within the Patch network. As you can see, and as you accurately point out, there isn't much distinction at all and that's not fair to the users. The pit bull blog isn't completely overwhelming every site in Rhode Island because we want clicks and comments. It's because the platform need to be fixed. If the platform really rewarded people for posting blogs and on the boards, that blog would be drowned out by all the great local stuff happening. But the redesign last year didn't bring about many rewards for users and that is part of what we're fixing now.

What does it matter my neighbor was on the Board and she signed the same thing from the judge thatRead Moreh eld no board member responsible. The resignation of the whole board was based on starting over and look where that got us! The only person who had to give a deposition was the tax collector, that's where most of the problem was in spite of all the scare tactics from the right-wing loonies!

It's a shame that the Patch has gone done hill with the new management. The next thing they willRead Morepro perly do is out source the local news coverage to the far east like so many others have done. It's all about greed not need.

Maybe it's time the good tax paying citizens of Coventry rise up and tell the town council whatRead Morethey want and make them earn our votes by doing the right thing here.. instead of the council dictating we are not or better yet "There seems to be no flavor for this here" asked the people what they want....is that so hard.

What is needed to get it on the ballot? A petition? Where do I sign?
Luckycat March 08, 2014 at 10:22 AM
Yes I agree Boris....TC president has no right to say "There seems to be no flavor for thisRead Moreher e".....really? Maybe because no one on that council knows the first thing about how to go about it???? How about a town wide VOTE from the TAXPAYERS to see if there is any flavor????

Gem101, I feel a big problem with government business is there is no accountability. Unless we make Read Moreit so people are accountable for their actions then these type of things will continue to happen.
mad hatter March 01, 2014 at 11:53 AM
gem, do you have a link to this stuff? randy, i agree. someone should be punished for this or itRead Morew ill happen again and again. when you are elected to a municipal board, you must act as a fiduciary. breach of fiduciary duty is a crime. kind of like the banks of 2008, they tried to fix "to big to fail" by making them bigger. makes no sense and that is what we are doing with a muni dept.
Realistic voter March 01, 2014 at 09:16 PM
The reason they had to blame the old board was simple ,call land or the judge and ask if they would Read Morehave collected any money if not for this exact ruling. Your looking at 1-2 million in insurance, if the judge called out all the players they would have got nothing. There is blame to go around mostly the tax collector's from both the town and CCFD that started the ball rolling and the rest of the players you mention and then some more. Just a perfect storm that got out of control. Now is the time to see what people are made of and move forward to make this town whole again and move into modern times with One Dept! If nothing else the town should pay for an outside study to look at this after all it was an outside audit company that found the 800,000 problem, mistake whatever you want to call it. I believe the costs to the town as a whole would be greatly reduced by millions with one dept. and there are people who don't. so I say let an outside independent company crunch the numbers and go with that. Just my .02.

Thank you for the kind words. I do know that I was not responsible for conducting a board ofRead Moredirect or's meeting on a back porch on Maple Valley Road a couple of years ago. I do have property available if you are interested. Also "I'm Watching", thank you for your advice.

Kent, I didn't realize you ran the board at some point. Now I understand , you are like the childRead Moret hat lost the checker game and kicks the board on the way out of the room. I couldn't figure why some one would push so hard for higher taxes , but there you have it , an axe to grind .
Kent Novak February 26, 2014 at 09:04 AM
Thanks Stephen B for your kind assessment. My record and that of the BOD, the building committee,Read Morea nd SAP committee while I served the district is a matter of public record. It might serve you well if you haven't already to read the annual reports that were presented to the taxpayers while I served as an elected leader. Also on another note, I have lived in the district since 1960 and served as a volunteer firefighter in WCFD for close to 20 years. My record stands for itself. One of my goals was to have at least 2 people manning the district in the station, ready to respond to emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Good luck Stephen B. in your efforts to improve the functioning of the WCFD and perhaps you will have the privilege of serving as an elected leader.
