Three Car Accident Closes Road, Knocks Out Power

Two people were transported to area hospitals.

 

Central Coventry Fire crews responded to a three-car accident on Hill Farm Rd. around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The crash that occurred in the area of the the Isle of Capri Bridge caused the the road to be closed to traffic for the evening and was reopened Sunday morning. Power to nearby homes was knocked out for several hours as well.

Crews were on scene for an extended period of time due to leaking and oil and gasoline from one of the vehicles involved. According to CCFD Captain Dave Gorman, absorbent pads were used on the surface of the road to prevent the fluids from leaking into Johnson's Pond.

One individual was transported to Kent County Hospital and one to Rhode Island Hospital, both with non-life threatening injuries.
