she didn't make the grade because she didn't get along with the hierarchy because of the position her spouse once held. Look at the odds stacked against her: WO has almost 3 times the students of any other elementary school in Coventry, she had no assistant principal, she has the highest ratio of special needsstudents than any other elementary school, and to top it off apparently she didn't get along with her staff. See the school committee notes from a few months ago where the teachers held a vote of no confidence against her.

Dr. Raptakis resigned to pursue other opportunities according to Superintendent Michael Convery. A replacement has not yet been chosen, but a posting for the job went up last week.

Read between the lines - she was handed her walking papers. Regardless of what the "party line" states. Also read between the lines, her replacement has already been decided upon. The posting is mere eyewash to cover the legal bases

"other opportunities" ask the individual concerned what that REALLY means.I can almost guarantee she won't comment but if I had to guess there's nothing in the queue. if you are a true journalist concerned about our town I would dig for the REAL truth. BTW, everything I have posted is the truth and can be validated. The way you'll know it, is that the first thing the powers that be will do is deny it all. Then they will provide you with more non-specific, boiler plating like, "resigned to pursue other opportunities" because they don't think we can, "handle the truth"

Obviously you haven't had a child, friend, family member, or acquaintance at Washington Oak in the last seven years. It has been deeply affected by the lack of leadership in the building. Parents have voiced growing concerns, teachers have taken a vote of no confidence in Mrs. Raptakis while she has continued to most concerned with herself and her husband's political aspirations. The students, teachers and community deserve a principal who can lead the largest elementary school in the state with integrity and a selfless commitment. Please do not make the mistake of spreading scuttlebutt that is irrelevant to Mrs. Raptakis' resignation. The two are in no way related. There are many in this community who are thrilled that Dr. Raptakis is on her way out.

I am writing as a mother of a child from Washington Oak School. I must say my experience with Dr. Raptakis has shown me that she is a very intelligent, kind, friendly person. I couldn't be happier with what I see that is taught to the Children in Washington Oak. The school has a very happy positive uplifting spirit about it which is what you want your children around. In what school do children love to go visit the principal? I think instead of throwing Dr.raptakis down and making foolish claims about what she does not do I think we should be thanking her for all the good she has done while being our Prinipal of the largest elementary school in the state. Dr. Raptakis has taken on this size school by herself and has done a great job. The parents love her, yes there is staff that loves her but most important there is the children. The children who look forward to seeing her every day, that familiar face, this is like a home to them, let's face it they spend most of there day there they need to feel safe. In all the years of Dr.raptakis as principal ,things have run safe,no problems. The people who say she has been concerned with her husbands political career. What wife wouldn't care about her husbands career? No matter what he does! That's why you married him. To address the rumors about the staff not liking her, well not everybody loves who they work for. I think it would be a terrible loss for all concerned if we lost her. We all need to speak up and help her!
