RIDOT: Laurel Ave. Bridge May Construction Update

From May 20 –June 2, 2012 the following operations will be in effect:

 

 

Week of May 20

Daytime: Construction and dewatering continues on the south abutment by erecting stone veneer on the south training wall. Also, backfilling continues behind south training wall for the south abutment footing. The fabrication of the steel beams continues.

Week of May 27

Daytime: Construction will continue on the south training wall stone veneer. Mobilize and begin micropile installation for the south abutment. Work will begin on the north abutment for preparation of the dam and splash pad dewatering.

• The design‐build team of Cardi Corp‐CME engineers will continue with shop drawing development and submittals, along with material procurements.

Check RIDOT’s Travel Advisories website (www.tmc.dot.ri.gov/traveladvisories) for any changes.

Looking Ahead

Design: Prepare and submit drawings for the structural steel, steel erection, bridge deck elements, precast elements and form work.

Construction: Continue construction of the south training wall stone fascia, install south abutment micro‐piles and construct the south pile cap and abutment. Commence dewatering operations on the north side for the splash pad and training wall.

During construction, motorists and neighbors on Washington Street (Rte. 117), Pilgrim Avenue, and Laurel Avenue, and on the Coventry Greenway, should expect to see activity at any time. Noise may be experienced at times. Work on the bridge will be confined to the sections of Laurel Avenue already closed to through traffic.
