Paiva Wins Outstanding Student Achievement Awards
The CHS graduate earned the awards from Connecticut College.
Lindsay Paiva, a senior at Connecticut College, was recently awarded the Katherine Finney Memorial Award, which is given to a senior whose undergraduate career exhibits the qualities of leadership, responsibility and integrity which characterized the late Professor Finney's thirty-five years of distinguished service at Connecticut College.
She also earned the Charles "Bud" Church Teaching Award for Social Justice given in memory of Charles "Bud" Church, professor from 1992 to 2002, to a student who embodies his critical consciousness about schooling, and who emulates the public voice with which he spoke out about the ongoing political debate over the nature and purpose of education.
Paiva's final accolade was the Holleran Center Activist Scholar award to a senior for outstanding commitment to social justice and the integration of academic and community learning.
She was presented with the awards at the annual Honors & Awards ceremony at Connecticut College on May 1.
Paiva, a 2008 graduate of Coventry High School, is the daughter of Norman and Isabel Paiva of Coventry.
