No Injuries Reported in Utiility Truck Fire

The fire is thought to have been caused by a mechanical error.

Around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, a utility truck being used by a sub-contractor for Verizon caught fire as it was traveling south on Harkney Hill Rd. and came to a stop near the intersection of Rte. 3.

The driver of the vehicle escaped without injury, however the truck itself is considered to be a total loss.

According to Central Coventry Fire Chief Bob Seltzer, the cause of the fire appears to be an accidental mechanical problem.

The incident was also followed by a minor car crash next to the scene as a result of spectators observing the vehicle fire.
