I have had a problem that maybe, with your vast amount of readers, you can help, not only me, but many others. I am handicapped and every day when I go out on at least three different occasions, I see people parking without the proper placard hanging on the mirror. Walmart, Stop and Shop, Walgreens, CVS, Citizens Bank, Dollar Tree, just to name a few here in Coventry. I can say that the stores try to be helpful and will either call the police or announce over the speakers for that person to move the car.
Another big problem is on the school grounds in Coventry at dismissal and after hours. I have on countless occasions had problems during a function, dance, event, after school clubs or teaching groups such as FASA at the ASFMS. People think that the handicapped parking is valid only when school is in session. In fact, that is the first response I get from the people I have talked to - you could only imagine the next response I get.
I have seen elderly women arguing with violators, I have witnessed people with severe physical limitations have to walk and I have personally watched parents sitting in cars waiting for their child, while I have to park near Knotty Oak Rd. and walk in.
So please be aware of where you park because "I'll only be a minute/picking someone up" or "I'll be gone before the cops get here" impacts someone else and can cause them physical grief.
