Get Out: August 3-5

A comprehensive list of options to kick start your weekend planning.

 

 

1.) Charlestown Seafood Festival 

Where/When: Ninigret Park, (4470 Old Post Rd., (Route 1A), Charlestown; Friday noon-12 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday 11a.m.-8 p.m.

Why Go: Come dine on RI's best seafood while checking out a wide variety of arts and crafts, amusement rides, live entertainment, a petting zoo, car show and more. Free parking, no pets allowed.

Pricing: $8/person - children 10 and under are free.

2.) Tai Chi in the Park

Where/When: Washington Village, Bike Path Park (off of Station St.) ; Saturday, 7 a.m.

Why Go: Christopher Carlow, D. Ac. of Nature's Healing Acupuncture & Herbal Medcine Clinic(982 Tiogue Ave.) will instruct the group during this slow-moving and stimulating form of exercise.

Pricing: Free

3.) Kids Workshop at the Home Depot

Where/When: Coventry Home DepotSaturday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Why Go: Children ages 5 to 12 can participate in this program where children will be able to make some useful projects like tool boxes, pencil boxes, coaster sets, etc.

Pricing: Free

4.) Free Rhode Island Museum Access

Where/When: Providence Children’s Museum, The RISD Museum and Newport Art Museum; Saturday and Sunday during business hours.

Why Go: Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card holders can present their card and a photo ID at the museums for one free general admission this weekend.

Pricing: Must be a cardholder.

5.) Summer Concert Series 

Where/When: Paine Field ; Sunday, 6 p.m.

Why Go: The Coventry Parks & Recreation Department invites all to attend tis Summer Sunday Night Free Concert Series at Paine Field. This week's performance will feature "Black & White Band", a three-piece blues, swing and jazz band. In the event of rain, the concert will be held inside of the Community Center. Blankets and lawn chairs are recommended.

Pricing: Free but donations are accepted to keep the program running.

6.) Line Dancing

Where/When: Coventry-West Greenwich Elks LodgeSunday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Want to try something a little different this weekend? Then try your hand (or feet) at line dancing. All ages and abilities are welcome. For more info call Jerry (397-3700) or Lori (206-3618).

Pricing: $6 per person to benefit Elks and Emblems charities.
