Coventry Firefighters Fill the Boot For a Cause

Get your spare change ready as Coventry firefighters prepare to take to the streets to support Muscular Dystrophy.

The weekend of August 17-19, Coventry Professional Firefighters Local 3372 will hit the streets to raise funds and awareness for local families living with Muscular Dystrophy.

Last year, Coventry Fire raised over $17,000 with their Fill the Boot Drive. This year's organizer of the Coventry Fill the Boot Program, Steve Winsor believes, “Everyone should stand up and do their part when they can. We have a long-standing relationship with the families supported by the MDA and we're more than happy to do our part and help them however and whenever we can.” The funds raised for the MDA will support research and services for families in the Rhode Island and Bristol County areas.

If you see your local Coventry firemen in the streets the third weekend in August “Filling the Boot,” please show them your generosity and support. Anyone interested in pledging their support to their local Fire Department should contact the local MDA office at (401) 732-1910.

MDA is a non-profit voluntary health organization, dedicated to research and the defeat of over 40 neuromuscular diseases, including ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.  The monies raised will remain local, going towards the repairs of wheelchairs, support group sessions, clinic visits, summer camp tuition and of course, the hope provided by extensive medical research.
