CHS Students Host DECA Fashion Show
The event raised money for upcoming DECA competitions.
Students from the Coventry DECA program put on a glamorous fashion show Thursday night, complete with live entertainment, food and prizes. Tickets were sold for $7 along with snacks, raffle tickets and Miche purses. Proceeds from the event will support the students' participation in the Rhode Island DECA Competition on March 2 at Johnson & Wales Harborside Campus and the national competition in Salt Lake City, Utah from April 27 - May 1.
DECA is an organization for students wishing to pursue a career in Marketing, Management, Hospitality or Finance and the the fashion show will be used as a piece of evidence for the organization's chapter project in Public Relations during the upcoming competition.
Comedian and fashion show host "Wild" Bill Simas introduced the 32 models who sported fashions from eight collections including Duct Tape (yes, you read that correctly), School Spirit, Winter, Heels, Jeans, Buisness, Summer/Beachwear and Formal.
According to CHS teacher and Coventry DECA advisor Kathy Larocque, the students decided that the organization needed to be promoted within the school and the community. In addition to the fashion show, other pieces of chapter project evidence include re-opening the school store and participation in CHS' annual Community Night.
