Town Recycling and Transfer Station Information

HOW TO GET RID OF IT COVENTRY!!              

Your efforts to recycle reduce the quantity of waste that we pay to dispose of at the landfill.

We hope this information will help you.

BLUE BIN: All #1 & #2 plastic bottles and jugs (crushed), glass bottles and jars, aluminum and tin cans, milk and juice cartons (crushed). Items to be placed directly in the blue bin.

GREEN BIN : Do Include mixed paper such as junk mail, magazines, and catalogs. Newspaper (bundled or bagged and placed in green bin) Corrugated cardboard (flatten and fold to a size no larger than 2'x3'x6'' tie with string) place beside the green bin.

Do Not Include take-out or frozen food boxes, soda or beer packaging, soap or laundry detergent boxes, boxes with silver or foil coatings, anything dirty, greasy, or plastic coated. Do Not Use Plastic Bags For Any Recyclables.

LARGE HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, such as furniture, appliances, bulky toys, grills (tank disposed of separately), mattresses, carpeting (cut and rolled), and lawnmowers (drained of oil and fuel).

CALL TO SCHEDULE A BULK APPOINTMENT OR BRING TO THE TRANSFER STATION – Hours listed below.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL, such as sheet rock, siding, lumber, ceiling tiles, shingles, and fencing.

BRING THESE ITEMS TO THE TRANSFER STATION – Hours listed below.

YARD WASTE, such as lawn clippings or leaves (place in brown paper bags), and branches (no larger than 3" in diameter, cut into 3' lengths, and bundle). DO NOT put sand, dirt or rocks in yard waste bags. No more than 5 bags or bundles each week. PLACE CURBSIDE ON COLLECTION DAY

HAZARDOUS MATERIAL, such as oil-based paints, gasoline, antifreeze, transmission fluid, pesticides, pool chemicals, photographic material, and other household solvents.

LATEX PAINT – Remove lid and allow for paint to dry before placing curbside for regular collection

LP TANKS – Call Rhode Island Resource Recovery 942-1430 ext.241

TIRES – Detach from rim and bring to the TRANSFER STATION

AUTOMOTIVE BATTERIES – Bring to the TRANSFER STATION

MOTOR OIL – Used motor oil may be brought to the OIL IGLOO at the TRANSFER STATION

AUTOMOTIVE PARTS – CANNOT be accepted at the Transfer Station CALL SALVAGE YARD

CLOTHING – We strongly discourage putting clothing in the trash.

TRANSFER STATION

LOCATION: 1670 Flat River Road behind the Coventry Town Hall/Library Complex

HOURS OF OPERATION: Mon-Fri Winter 7-9:30am & 12:30-3:00pm Summer 6-8:30am & 11:30-2:00pm

RESIDENTS MAY DUMP FOR FREE WITH PROOF OF RESIDENCY FOUR TIMES PER YEAR.

NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES or RENTAL TRUCKS are allowed.
